Why Regular Dental Visits Are Important

Why Regular Dental Visits Are Important

There are many good reasons to go to the dentist regularly

Growing up, my parents took me to regular dental visits, but I know that we didn’t all grow up that way! For some people, they were taught that “you don’t go to the dentist until your tooth hurts” or maybe they had a traumatic experience at some point and they are hesitant to make regular dental appointments.

Regular Dental Visits Are Preventative

At The Dentist off Main, we encourage you to keep up on your regular preventative appointments for that very reason: they are preventative! We want to catch any issues before they start causing you pain and discomfort. We can also teach you different techniques and tools to help prevent future decay.

Regular Dental Visits Are Preventative

Oral Health Impacts Overall Health

Waiting until a tooth hurts is unnecessary and unhealthy! Did you know that your oral health has a direct impact on your overall health? That’s right, tooth decay and gum disease can have a negative effect on other areas of your body. This can include your heart and infections like Endocarditis or disease such as Cardiovascular disease. Periodontitis has also been linked to low birth weight and premature birth in pregnant women. Some insurance plans actually allow more cleanings for pregnant women for this very reason!

Oral Health Impacts Overall Health

If you have a disease or condition like diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Osteoporosis or Alzheimer’s you may also be more susceptible to oral disease and decay. Additional cleanings may benefit people with these conditions!

Whether preventative or restorative, we will make every effort to make your visit as comfortable as possible. We invite you to make an appointment with us so we can help get your oral health on track!
