3 Reasons Giving Back Matters: Why We're Supporting Samaritan's Purse
Here at The Dentist Off Main, we love to give back.
There are a lot of organizations to consider, and a lot of good causes that need funds. But it was important to us to find an organization that aligns with our own values. And to find one that would make the most of our dollars. Here’s why we chose Samaritan’s Purse.
As a dentist office, we believe in supporting families.
Actions that we take daily create a ripple effect that can reach many people, across many countries, and continue on even years later! Our family was given an opportunity to worship, an opportunity to be healthy, and an opportunity to be free. And because of that ripple, I choose to go and do what so many did for my family and me.
Consequently, it was important to me to choose an organization that would support families and children worldwide. Additionally, if it weren’t for organizations like Amnesty International and churches like the Lancaster Assembly of God Church in Pennsylvania, I would still be inside the borders of Russia or in Israel. I’m a firm believer in giving back, because it allowed my own family to come to America to experience freedom!
Samaritan’s Purse follows Jesus’ command of “Go and do likewise.”
This quarter, we’re supporting Samaritan’s Purse. What are they all about? These very things we’re talking about today. Their mission statement says it all:
Samaritan’s Purse is a non–denominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
One of the aspects that mattered to us was fiscal responsibility and accountability.
We asked questions about just how much of the money donated goes to the cause. In the world of GoFundMe and over 1.5 million charities in the US alone, it can be difficult to navigate the landscape. Even more so, to know where we should invest our time and money. According to Charity Navigator, an unbiased company that reviews and rates thousands of charities across the U.S., Samaritan’s Purse has a financial score of 98.23 out of 100, and scores 100 out of 100 for accountability and transparency. It doesn’t get much better than that.
