Olesya Salathe, DMD
Dr. Olesya Salathe was born in Russia and immigrated with her family when she was just eight years old. They left on a quest to Israel for a future that would allow for religious freedom. Her grandfather was imprisoned and held by the KGB for many years for fighting for basic civil rights. Her family will forever be indebted to Amnesty International for eventually rescuing them from their refugee status and bringing their family to the United States.
Dr. Salathe's family eventually settled in the small town of Molalla where she graduated high school. During her high school years she worked in a local dental office as a sterilization tech and eventually became a dental assistant. She graduated from Molalla High School with honors receiving multiple scholarships, including the acclaimed Ford Family Foundation Scholar award. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from George Fox University before earning her Doctorate at Oregon Health and Science University School of Dentistry.
During her undergrad years she developed a deep seeded passion for community. Both the Quaker background of George Fox and the Ford Family Foundation's founding principles were engrained within her to serve. Dr. Salathe purchased her first dental practice from Dr. Paul Puffer, her former high school job employer. She has since loved giving back to the same community that welcomed her as an eighth grader. She even earned the prestigious Gerald E. Bruce Award for her leadership and service to community. This award is given to one past Ford Family Foundation Alumni annually and gives the recipient the opportunity to donate the winning grant to any non-profit organization of their choice.
Dr. Salathe is currently a member of American Dental Association, Oregon Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Ford Scholars Alumni, Clackamas County Dental Society where she is a past President, past Vice-President and past Secretary/Treasurer. She is a delegate to the Oregon Dental Association Annual Meeting, alternate delegate for the American Dental Association and is currently serving a two year term as the Chair of the New Dentist Council. Her volunteer work within the dental community has also been recognized and her dental professional peers nominated her for the prestigious membership to the American College of Dentists. It's the oldest major honorary organization of dentists that have exemplified excellence through outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions to dentistry and society. It's membership is by invitation only and has been given to only 3.5% of dentists nationwide.
Besides loving her community and giving back through free dental days, sport guard clinics, field trips, sports sponsorships and pretty much anything that would help her hometown of both Molalla and Colton, she loves spending time with her family. Even with an accomplished education, practice and career, her pride and joy are her two children, Hudson and Lylah. She gives all credit and glory to her God and her husband Scott. Without them none of this would be possible.
